What Is Homesitting?

Homesitting is a peace of mind

Going away – even for a few days – has its disadvantages. Your unoccupied house is increasingly at the risk of burglary or weather damage; and if you are a pet owner you are probably reluctant to use boarding establishments or leave them with relations.

Booking a homesitter means you can leave your pets at home where they can stay in their familiar environment and they can keep to their normal routine. This may include medication, exercise and diet – in fact they will hardly notice you have gone. Your homesitter will take on household responsibilities such as taking care of your pets, performing general maintenance (including pools, lawns, etc.), and, in general, making sure that everything runs smoothly just as if you were at home.

Burglary and vandalism are often deterred by the sheer presence of someone at the property. Advantages of having our live-in sitters are for mail collection, telephone messages, light garden maintenance, and to provide a general presence in your absence to discourage intruders. Our sitters will also advise us if there is any property upkeep necessary, e.g. burst or leaking pipes, weather damage or electrical problems.

Allowing relative strangers to look after your home, possessions and pets may seem like a strange idea.

That is why the personalised service provided by Town & Country Homesit sets us apart. We meet you at your home to assess what sort of person would be best suited to you and your animals. We then thoroughly brief the selected sitter on you and your needs before they will call you to make an appointment. It is important that you, the sitters, and of course the pets (if applicable) are all compatible, so that you can leave home feeling relaxed that your home and pets are in capable hands.
